How to Make Pear Spiced Rum
Pear Spiced Rum has become a fall favorite in my home and social circle. It is simple yet so impressive! In this post, I’ll teach you how to make it yourself.
Pear Spiced Rum is like a warm fall blanket, Christmas by a fire, and a soothing hug. Okay, enough words. Let’s get to the recipe right?
Rum Infusion
- 4 pounds pears
- 1 vanilla bean
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 liters rum
After infusion
- 3 cups honey
- Club soda (optional)
Instructions
Infuse the Rum
1. Wash pears and cut into quarters. Place in a gallon glass jar.
2. Split the vanilla bean horizontally and add to pears. Add the cinnamon stick.
3. Pour the rum into the jar. Put lid on and swirl around.
4. Place somewhere visible but out of the way. Admire it for 4-6 weeks.
Strain and Finish
1. Strain the rum into a large bowl. Dry the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean to reuse some other way or discard them. Save some pears to serve on ice cream, over cake, or to make a crisp. (Or just toss them.)
2. Warm the honey in a pot. Add to rum and mix well.
3. Pour rum into bottles or jars.
4. Serve plain for sipping neat or mix with club soda.
Notes
I like to mix the rum with club soda in a 1:1 ratio or sometimes 2 parts rum and 1 part soda. Just try different things and see what tastes good to you or your guest. Enjoy!
